Daniel Martijn de Bruin (Martijn) studied Physics with a major in Photonics at Technical College Ede from which he graduated in 2002. His graduation project was on the development of a clinical optical coherence tomography system which he conducted at the former Laser Center of the Academic Medical Center (AMC) Amsterdam. Hereafter, he studied Molecular Biology at the University of Applied sciences, Utrecht.
His graduation project was performed at the Wellman Center for Photo-medicine, Harvard Medical School where he developed novel ophthalmic imaging devices. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2007 and went on to work as a Ph.D. candidate at the department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics (BMEP) at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) on the clinical use of optical coherence tomography which resulted in his Ph.D. degree.
While conducting his Ph.D. research, he studied Medical Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam from which he received his master’s degree in 2011. As of 2011, he was employed as research associate at both the department of Urology and the department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics of the AMC where he initiated and guided translational research projects. Currently, he is staff member of both the department of urology and the photonics group at the department of biomedical engineering & physics. He holds several grants and is principle investigator of multiple research projects, is member of the EAU, AUA, SPIE and COST and published over 100 papers covering optical and digital diagnostic imaging technologies and focal therapies of benign and malignant disease.

Dr. Evans is professor and chairman of the Department of Urology at University of California, Davis School of Medicine and a member of the UC Davis Cancer Center. Dr. Evans attended Dartmouth Medical School and he served on active duty in the United States Army, including two years as Chief of Experimental Surgery at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Dr. Evans completed surgery and urology training at the University of California, San Francisco where he was also a National Kidney Foundation Scholar. Markus Graefen is Professor of Urology & Chairman of Martini-Klinik, Prostate Cancer Center at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. The Martini-Clinic was founded in 2005 under the roof of the University of Hamburg and has developed to one of the leading Prostate Cancer Centers worldwide. About 5000 men are consulting the clinic every year and about 2400 radical prostatectomies are annually performed.
Prof. Graefens expertise lies in robotic and open prostatectomies as well as in seed implantation and HDR-brachtherapy. Another focus of interest lies in the implementation of quality assurance programs for prostate cancer treatment. Prof.Graefen has established a prostate cancer database im Hamburg with now overseeing the data of over 25.000 patients treated for PCa and which is based on the results of life-long patient reported outcome measurements. This database is used for evaluating the efficacy and comparison of therapeutic options as well as for internal quality controls of the single treating physicians.
Prof.Graefen studied medicine at the University of Bonn, Germany and the University of California, San Diego. He worked in general surgery at Blackburn and Edinburgh and finished his education as a urologist at the University of Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Furthermore he worked as a research fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York together with Peter Scardino and Michael Kattan.

He is editor of the Spanish edition of the AUA News and has served as assistant editor of the Journal of Endourology. He has served in a variety of leadership roles, including as the current Secretary General of the Confederacion Americana de Urologia, as president of the Mexican Society of Urology and on the Board of Directors of the Endourological Society.
Gutíerrez co-directs the fellowship program on Endourology and Laparoscopy/Robotic Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist. Francesco Montorsi is Professor of Urology and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy. In the year 2015 Prof. Montorsi was appointed as Adjunct Secretary General – Science by the European Association of Urology. As a widely published author, Prof. Montorsi has written and coauthored 1167 peer reviewed journal articles according to PubMed and several book chapters. At present Prof. Montorsi’s H-Index is 119 according to Google Scholar. His most recent contributions to the literature have been on the management of urological malignancies, sexual dysfunctions and benign prostatic hyperplasia. Professor Alexandre Mottrie MD PhD graduated in 1988 from the School of Medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He completed his residency in 1994 at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany where he was a Staff Member till 1996. Afterwards, he served as a Fellow in Washington University St.-Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. for six months to improve his laparoscopic skills. Since 1996, he is Urologist in the O.L.V.-Clinic in Aalst, Belgium. On December 5 2011, he successfully defended his Ph.D. in the University of Saarland, Homburg-Saar, Germany.
His major urological interests are urological oncology and minimal invasive surgery. He is a pioneer in robotic surgery and started this type of surgery in 2001. He developed different types of robotic surgery. At his department, he developed laparoscopic and robotic surgery to become training center in this field. He trained numerous colleagues in the field of robotic surgery. With over 4000 robotic procedures, he has one of the largest experiences in the robotic field.
In 2010, Dr. Mottrie founded the ORSI-Academy, a multidisciplinary school of robotic and minimal-invasive surgery.
Dr. Mottrie is scientifically very involved. He has authored multiple scientific papers and organised several international Congresses and Masterclasses in these fields. He has been actively involved in several congresses to perform live-surgery, give courses and/or present state-of-the-art lectures. He is the Scientific Director of the ERUS-congresses and the Global Congress on Prostate Cancer (Prosca). Actually, he is the president of the EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS), past-president of the Society of Robotic Surgeons (SRS) and the past-president of the Belgian Laparoscopic Urology Group (BLUG). Prof. Anwar R. Padhani is an internationally recognized Oncological MRI radiologist at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, London, UK. He is Professor of Cancer Imaging at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. He is the executive chairperson and Trustee of the International Cancer Imaging Society (ICIS). He is also a Trustee of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). He has been instrumental in introducing multiparametric prostate MRI into clinical practice in the UK, contributing to UK guideline development, quality assurance programs and training. He has contributed to international guidelines development including the ESUR/ACR prostate PI-RADS committee, the St.Gallen advanced prostate cancer consensus committee and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) advanced prostate cancer guidelines. He led the metastasis response assessment system (MET-RADS) committee on the use of whole body MRI for advanced prostate cancer (2017). He is a recognized cancer imaging expert looking after patients on a weekly basis. Dr. Padhani has a passion for teaching and has published chapters in 33 textbooks, 67 educational and scientific journal reviews in peer reviewed journals, and published 150 full scientific articles in peer reviewed journals, with over 17,000 publications reads and citations. Monique Roobol is Professor Decision Making in Urology and the Head of the scientific research office within the Department of Urology at Erasmus Medical Centre Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She has a masters and a PhD degree in epidemiology.
The scientific research office performs and supports several clinical and population-based screening studies. On average five PhD students are working under Dr. Roobol’s guidance. Dr. Cesare Marco Scoffone has been working for two decades in the University Department of Urology of Orbassano (Torino, Italy), developing a wide experience in uro-oncologic and reconstructive surgery, retrograde ureteroscopic and percutaneous treatment of urolithiasis, miniinvasive approaches to BPO. Since 2010 he is Chief of the Department of Urology of the Cottolengo Hospital of Torino (Italy). Dr. Shariat is currently professor and chairman of the department of urology, Medical University of Vienna, Vienna General Hospital, Vienna, Austria. He is also adjunct professor of urology and medical oncology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York, NY, adjunct professor of urology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX, USA, and guest professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague, CZ.

He has published more than 932 peer-reviewed research papers (Scopus h-index 79, 25693 citations; Google scholar h-index 105, 60514 citations), >300 non-peer-reviewed papers, and 18 book chapters. He is the holder of four patents stemming from his research into prostate and bladder cancer, and is the recipient of various national and international rewards. He has, for example, received the prestigious Matula Award from the European Urological Association and the Gold Cystoscope 2017 from the American Urological Association.

He is currently spearheading several collaborative multicenter groups (Bladder Cancer Research Consortium, The Bladder Cancer Detection Group, and The Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma Collaboration) and prospective clinical trials. He is a member of various academic societies and a journal, meeting abstract, and grant reviewer for numerous national and international organizations. He is an editorial board member of various journals including European Urology, BJU International, World Journal of Urology, Current Opinion in Urology (editor in chief), and Immunotherapy among others. He heads a medical charity for refugees and is on the medical advisory board for two other charities.

His research focuses on urologic oncology – molecular mechanisms, markers, early detection, natural history, treatment, translational and outcomes research. Specially, Dr. Shariat’s has been working on the discovery, testing, and validation of molecular markers associated with the biological and clinical behavior of prostate and urothelial cancers. His laboratory research focuses on integrative genomics and epigenomics of urothelial carcinoma with the goal of designing personalized therapeutic strategies.

Dr. Cora Sternberg is chief of the Department of Medical Oncology at the San Camillo-Forlanini Hospital in Rome, Italy. She has attained the rank of full Professor of Oncology and is an adjunct professor at La Sapienza University in Rome. She is also adjunct professor of Urology and Urological Oncology at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts, and adjunct professor at Temple University’s College of Science and Technology in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania undergraduate and medical schools, she completed her fellowship and was on staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer in NY. Dr. Sternberg is an internationally respected leader in the fields of medical oncology and urological malignancies and a recognized expert in the area of new drug development. She is the principal investigator for numerous studies and an internationally respected researcher who has lectured extensively at universities and cancer symposia worldwide. Dr. Sternberg is particularly known for her influential work in bladder cancer and for her publications on novel therapies for prostate cancer and targeted agents in renal cell carcinoma. Dr. Sternberg has published extensively (more than 375 articles, 6 textbooks) and is an associate editor and editorial board member of several International journals. European School of Oncology (ESO) core faculty and in tune with American medicine, Dr. Sternberg has been elected for a 3-year term to the nominating committee of ASCO’s board of directors.

Daniel Martijn de Bruin (Martijn) studied Physics with a major in Photonics at Technical College Ede from which he graduated in 2002. His graduation project was on the development of a clinical optical coherence tomography system which he conducted at the former Laser Center of the Academic Medical Center (AMC) Amsterdam. Hereafter, he studied Molecular Biology at the University of Applied sciences, Utrecht.
His graduation project was performed at the Wellman Center for Photo-medicine, Harvard Medical School where he developed novel ophthalmic imaging devices. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2007 and went on to work as a Ph.D. candidate at the department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics (BMEP) at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) on the clinical use of optical coherence tomography which resulted in his Ph.D. degree.
While conducting his Ph.D. research, he studied Medical Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam from which he received his master’s degree in 2011. As of 2011, he was employed as research associate at both the department of Urology and the department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics of the AMC where he initiated and guided translational research projects. Currently, he is staff member of both the department of urology and the photonics group at the department of biomedical engineering & physics. He holds several grants and is principle investigator of multiple research projects, is member of the EAU, AUA, SPIE and COST and published over 100 papers covering optical and digital diagnostic imaging technologies and focal therapies of benign and malignant disease.

Markus Graefen is Professor of Urology & Chairman of Martini-Klinik, Prostate Cancer Center at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. The Martini-Clinic was founded in 2005 under the roof of the University of Hamburg and has developed to one of the leading Prostate Cancer Centers worldwide. About 5000 men are consulting the clinic every year and about 2400 radical prostatectomies are annually performed.
Prof. Graefens expertise lies in robotic and open prostatectomies as well as in seed implantation and HDR-brachtherapy. Another focus of interest lies in the implementation of quality assurance programs for prostate cancer treatment. Prof.Graefen has established a prostate cancer database im Hamburg with now overseeing the data of over 25.000 patients treated for PCa and which is based on the results of life-long patient reported outcome measurements. This database is used for evaluating the efficacy and comparison of therapeutic options as well as for internal quality controls of the single treating physicians.
Prof.Graefen studied medicine at the University of Bonn, Germany and the University of California, San Diego. He worked in general surgery at Blackburn and Edinburgh and finished his education as a urologist at the University of Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Furthermore he worked as a research fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York together with Peter Scardino and Michael Kattan.

In the year 2015 Prof. Montorsi was appointed as Adjunct Secretary General – Science by the European Association of Urology. As a widely published author, Prof. Montorsi has written and coauthored 1167 peer reviewed journal articles according to PubMed and several book chapters. Professor Alexandre Mottrie MD PhD graduated in 1988 from the School of Medicine at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He completed his residency in 1994 at the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany where he was a Staff Member till 1996. Afterwards, he served as a Fellow in Washington University St.-Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. for six months to improve his laparoscopic skills. Since 1996, he is Urologist in the O.L.V.-Clinic in Aalst, Belgium. On December 5 2011, he successfully defended his Ph.D. in the University of Saarland, Homburg-Saar, Germany.
His major urological interests are urological oncology and minimal invasive surgery. He is a pioneer in robotic surgery and started this type of surgery in 2001. He developed different types of robotic surgery. At his department, he developed laparoscopic and robotic surgery to become training center in this field. He trained numerous colleagues in the field of robotic surgery. With over 4000 robotic procedures, he has one of the largest experiences in the robotic field.
In 2010, Dr. Mottrie founded the ORSI-Academy, a multidisciplinary school of robotic and minimal-invasive surgery.
Dr. Mottrie is scientifically very involved. He has authored multiple scientific papers and organised several international Congresses and Masterclasses in these fields. He has been actively involved in several congresses to perform live-surgery, give courses and/or present state-of-the-art lectures. He is the Scientific Director of the ERUS-congresses and the Global Congress on Prostate Cancer (Prosca). Prof. Anwar R. Padhani is an internationally recognized Oncological MRI radiologist at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, London, UK. He is Professor of Cancer Imaging at the Institute of Cancer Research, London. He is the executive chairperson and Trustee of the International Cancer Imaging Society (ICIS). He is also a Trustee of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). He is a recognized cancer imaging expert looking after patients on a weekly basis. Hereafter, he studied Molecular Biology at the University of Applied sciences, Utrecht.
His graduation project was performed at the Wellman Center for Photo-medicine, Harvard Medical School where he developed novel ophthalmic imaging devices. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2007 and went on to work as a Ph.D. candidate at the department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics (BMEP) at the Academic Medical Center (AMC) on the clinical use of optical coherence tomography which resulted in his Ph.D. degree.
While conducting his Ph.D. research, he studied Medical Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam from which he received his master’s degree in 2011. As of 2011, he was employed as research associate at both the department of Urology and the department of Biomedical Engineering & Physics of the AMC where he initiated and guided translational research projects. Currently, he is staff member of both the department of urology and the photonics group at the department of biomedical engineering & physics. He holds several grants and is principle investigator of multiple research projects, is member of the EAU, AUA, SPIE and COST and published over 100 papers covering optical and digital diagnostic imaging technologies and focal therapies of benign and malignant disease.

Markus Graefen is Professor of Urology & Chairman of Martini-Klinik, Prostate Cancer Center at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. The Martini-Clinic was founded in 2005 under the roof of the University of Hamburg and has developed to one of the leading Prostate Cancer Centers worldwide. About 5000 men are consulting the clinic every year and about 2400 radical prostatectomies are annually performed.
Prof. Graefens expertise lies in robotic and open prostatectomies as well as in seed implantation and HDR-brachtherapy. Another focus of interest lies in the implementation of quality assurance programs for prostate cancer treatment. Prof.Graefen has established a prostate cancer database im Hamburg with now overseeing the data of over 25.000 patients treated for PCa and which is based on the results of life-long patient reported outcome measurements. This database is used for evaluating the efficacy and comparison of therapeutic options as well as for internal quality controls of the single treating physicians.
Prof.Graefen studied medicine at the University of Bonn, Germany and the University of California, San Diego. He worked in general surgery at Blackburn and Edinburgh and finished his education as a urologist at the University of Düsseldorf and Hamburg. He developed different types of robotic surgery. At his department, he developed laparoscopic and robotic surgery to become training center in this field. He trained numerous colleagues in the field of robotic surgery. With over 4000 robotic procedures, he has one of the largest experiences in the robotic field.
In 2010, Dr. Mottrie founded the ORSI-Academy, a multidisciplinary school of robotic and minimal-invasive surgery.
Dr. Mottrie is scientifically very involved. He has authored multiple scientific papers and organised several international Congresses and Masterclasses in these fields. He has been actively involved in several congresses to perform live-surgery, give courses and/or present state-of-the-art lectures. He is the Scientific Director of the ERUS-congresses and the Global Congress on Prostate Cancer (Prosca). He is also a Trustee of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM). He is a recognized cancer imaging expert looking after patients on a weekly basis. Dr. Cesare Marco Scoffone has been working for two decades in the University Department of Urology of Orbassano (Torino, Italy), developing a wide experience in uro-oncologic and reconstructive surgery, retrograde ureteroscopic and percutaneous treatment of urolithiasis, miniinvasive approaches to BPO. Since 2010 he is Chief of the Department of Urology of the Cottolengo Hospital of Torino (Italy). His personal case series include thousands of open, laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures (>750 ECIRS, >500 en-bloc no-touch HoLEPs, thousands of RIRS) performed as first surgeon in all urologic fields, and during the last fifteen years he has been often invited for Live Surgeries (mainly RIRS, ECIRS, bipolar TURP, HoLEP) all over the world. He is author of many peer-reviewed publications, guidelines, book chapters (including one in the 4th edition of the Smith’s Texbook of Endourology on ECIRS), didactic videos, editor of a Springer book on ECIRS, reviewer for many international journals, member of national and international urological societies, consultant for various companies, part of the EAU, CIE and SIU Faculties, chairman of the Technology and Training in Endourology congress in Torino (8th edition in 2018).

He has published more than 932 peer-reviewed research papers (Scopus h-index 79, 25693 citations; Google scholar h-index 105, 60514 citations), >300 non-peer-reviewed papers, and 18 book chapters. He is the holder of four patents stemming from his research into prostate and bladder cancer, and is the recipient of various national and international rewards. He has, for example, received the prestigious Matula Award from the European Urological Association and the Gold Cystoscope 2017 from the American Urological Association.

He is currently spearheading several collaborative multicenter groups (Bladder Cancer Research Consortium, The Bladder Cancer Detection Group, and The Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma Collaboration) and prospective clinical trials. He is a member of various academic societies and a journal, meeting abstract, and grant reviewer for numerous national and international organizations. He is an editorial board member of various journals including European Urology, BJU International, World Journal of Urology, Current Opinion in Urology (editor in chief), and Immunotherapy among others. He heads a medical charity for refugees and is on the medical advisory board for two other charities.

His research focuses on urologic oncology – molecular mechanisms, markers, early detection, natural history, treatment, translational and outcomes research. Specially, Dr. Shariat’s has been working on the discovery, testing, and validation of molecular markers associated with the biological and clinical behavior of prostate and urothelial cancers. His laboratory research focuses on integrative genomics and epigenomics of urothelial carcinoma with the goal of designing personalized therapeutic strategies.

Dr. Sternberg is an internationally respected leader in the fields of medical oncology and urological malignancies and a recognized expert in the area of new drug development. She is the principal investigator for numerous studies and an internationally respected researcher who has lectured extensively at universities and cancer symposia worldwide. Dr. Sternberg is particularly known for her influential work in bladder cancer and for her publications on novel therapies for prostate cancer and targeted agents in renal cell carcinoma. Dr. Sternberg has published extensively (more than 375 articles, 6 textbooks) and is an associate editor and editorial board member of several International journals.
